Blusens offers up Blu:Brain HD media server
Blusens hit the scene in a big way last October, but for whatever reason, we haven't heard from 'em since... until now, that is. The Blu:Brain Home Entertainment Device features a somewhat misleading name, as there's (regrettably) no built-in Blu-ray drive to speak of. What it does have, however, is a remarkably sexy shell, twin digital TV tuners (DVB-T), a removable internal hard drive, Ethernet / WiFi connectivity and a USB port. Essentially, this here box can serve up all sorts of multimedia (high-def content included) via HDMI, though word on the street says it won't even be available to order until 2009.[Via Gizmos]
Hands-on with the Blusens G01 satellite imagery GPS
We were pretty stoked about the Blusens G-series PMPs that overlay guidance information on Google Maps satellite imagery when we first heard about them in October, and now Spanish site Xataka has a hands-on video with the G01, which appears to be just as impressive as we'd hoped. The satellite maps automatically appear when available for the area you're in, and Xataka says the unit itself is quite fast. Sadly, there isn't a ton more detail in the review, but those of you aching for some shaky camera work and cheesy country-rock tunes can check out the vid after the break.
The Blusens catalog: a mythical garden of vaporous delights?
We've never paid much attention to Spain's Blusens, but we just got hold of the company's 2008 catalog and frankly, we're impressed. We don't know how much of this stuff will ever actually see the light of day, but there's some seriously sick (hypothetical) gear in there, like the G.41 PMP pictured above, which features a 4.3-inch screen, WiFi, MP3, WMA, MPEG4 and Ogg support, an integrated digital camera, voice recorder, FM radio, and what looks like a well-polished UI. Also worth noting is the G.71 media streamer / DVR, available in DVD or Blu-ray versions, which features a removable hard drive and external storage support, dual DVB-T tuners, IPTV support, Ethernet, WiFi, HDMI-out, and DivX / DivX HD / XviD, H.264 and MPEG2 support. Rounding out the highlights is the C.40 VoIP phone, which'll let you Skype it up over WiFi. Some of these designs rip pretty heavily from other companies, and again, we're not at all certain what's real and what's not, but damn -- Blusens, welcome to the scene. Blusens intros GPS units with satellite imagery
Tired of looking at your lame, barely defined, primary-color GPS renderings, wherein the difference between your exit and a POI is merely a few hues on the RGB-wheel? Well, a company called Blusens wants to help you out... for a price, of course. The company has just introduced two new GPS navigators (the G01 and G02) that feature slick looking "real" maps (a la Google's satellite images), onto which GPS data is overlaid. The effect is pretty impressive -- and more than a little helpful if you're driving past some notable landmarks. The G01 features a 4.3-inch touchscreen, a 30GB hard drive, SD / MMC card support, plus video, audio, and still image playback. The G02 is much of the same, though it packs a 40GB hard drive and Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP support. The G01 will be out in November for a not-so-cheap €499, and the G02 is due sometime in early 2008, no word on price.
