Sanyo's A5520SA tracker phone can sound the alarm in emergencies
Sure those child tracking phones are great for most situations, but sometimes what your kid might need most in an emergency is just a really loud noise, and Sanyo has their new A5520SA outfitted with a buzzer for that very purpose. You can also pair the phone with a number so that when the alarm button is activated a call is automatically made to you. The phone can also work with a GPS locater service, for a fee, and even has a decent 2.2-inch screen and a 1.3 megapixel camera, so your kid won't feel like some total lamer toting a ghetto handset -- because if there's anything more important than your child's safety, it's her social status.

I am still not sure how I feel about kids having such expensive items. Really makes it tempting to steal them, or for the kids to fight over them. Maybe I am getting old (23) but it is still strange to see grade school kids using cell phones.
I think he means 1.3 MP camera!

I'm sure that loud emergency buzzer still isn't as annoying as most ringtones.

I am offended by your use of the word "ghetto." Its racist and irresponsible of you to use that term. What kind of message are you sending to your readers when you are essentially saying that having certain features on a phone will make it "ghetto?'" Are you saying that the phone will be too black, too poor or too uneducated? As an science teacher in the Bronx and a avid reader of your site I am very disappointed that someone saw no problem with using this word. I would like to make a request that the word be removed from your site. Thank you.
-Sincerely,
Enrique Garcia

Its ok there always seems to be one person to get offended over nothing and go on a crusade over it.I think everyone needs to lighten up and not be so sensitive about everything!

What an adorable phone! I'd want one if it wasn't so clearly intended for much, much younger users.

I love that keypad. It's very toy-like.

It is sad that a science teacher in the Bronx doesn't know that the definition of 'ghetto' doesn't include any specific race of people and the only person to imply that it does was himself.
No wonder half this city drops out of high school.
