Igor Bonifacic10.11.2019Chat with Tom Hanks on the @AppStore Twitter account about his new writing app
Update: Apparently when Apple invited everyone to a live Q&A, they didn't explain that they would be the only ones doing the Q-ing. It doesn't look like Hanks will be taking questions from the public, unfortunately. Original post is below. If you're a Tom Hanks fan -- and let's be honest, who isn't a Tom Hanks fan? -- Apple is giving you the chance to chat with him today on Twitter. At 9AM PST (12PM EST), Hanks will be taking questions via the @AppStore Twitter account about his new writing app, Hanx Writer. The app, which launched just yesterday, is a word processor styled like an old fashioned typewriter, complete with authentic sound effects and the inability to delete what you've typed. Ok, so there's an option in the settings menu to turn on the "modern" delete key, but using that just feels like cheating when you're tapping away on an app like this. Hanx Writer is free, but you can buy some customization options like new typewriters and styles. The announcement of the Q&A session doesn't note an end time, so if you're dead set on getting a question to Mr. Hanks, I'd advise you to arrive on Twitter promptly at the start time. Good luck!
Mike Wehner08.14.2014Hands-on: Toy Story 3: The Video Game (PS3)
Disney Interactive Studios has been making a lot of noise about refining and improving its approach to licensed games, and while Toy Story 3: The Video Game is still meant for the younger members of Pixar's vast following, it's the best evidence yet that Disney is serious about trying to use licenses right. I got to play the game at a recent pre-E3 event, and it was a solid, kid-friendly experience, with bright and beautiful graphics surrounding intuitive racing and platforming mechanics. With innovative features like a very dynamic difficulty system and lots and lots of collectibles and game modes, Disney's Avalanche Studios has created something here that you, as someone who enjoys fine game design, can actually be proud to have your kids play. %Gallery-93421%
Mike Schramm05.20.2010Funny or Die unlocks 'Spielberg' level in Call of Duty
If there's one thing we don't get to talk about enough here on our vidya game blog, it's film legend Tom Hanks. The man just has a presence about him, one that adds an indefinable trait to anything he breathes on. Luckily, the restraining order he filed against us doesn't extend to the realm of typed-out words on the internet, so when we saw this Funny or Die (NSFW) video that combines a bit of Call of Duty with that gruesome Normandy Invasion scene from Saving Private Ryan, we just knew we had to post it up. You can check it out past the break, but be warned: Aside from seeing all that gore, you'll hear the cackles of foul-mouthed Brits. Small price to pay for one of the funniest things you'll see, if you ask us.[Via Go Nintendo]
David Hinkle11.13.2009PSP has its own Da Vinci puzzle
Alright, so maybe this puzzle doesn't involve Tom Hanks with bad hair and an albino monk, but that's probably a good thing. While browsing new Capcom Puzzle World screens on Gamespot, I came across the image above. It's from one of the Buster Bros games and damn if it don't look trippy. I can't say I have a lot of Buster Bros experience, but I'll likely get this collection regardless since it has a puzzle game I love even more than Lumines; Super Puzzle Fighter II. As a refresher, here is the list of games in this collection: Super Puzzle Fighter II Block Block, Buster Bros (3 versions of it) Capcom Puzzle World puzzle fights its way onto store shelves next month.
