  • Pelicans' Holiday is T-Rexing in NBA 2K15 glitch video

We're fairly certain that New Orleans Pelicans basketball player Jrue Holiday has perfectly functional arms in real life. As demonstrated by YouTube user wEEman33, it appears that NBA 2K15 disagrees. As seen in the video shared shared above, a recent glitch in the game caused Holiday's arms to seemingly retreat into his body following a server-side update to its MyTeam mode, leaving his hands to jut out from his shoulders like fish fins with opposable thumbs. To make matters worse, the shirtless Holiday was also missing part of his torso and occasionally disappeared, but none of it stopped him from sinking multiple three-point shots. According to Operation Sports, the special armless "Sapphire" version of Holiday no longer exists, as Visual Concepts issued a patch to squash the bug yesterday. 2K Sports' basketball game is no stranger to horrifying glitches; NBA 2K15's face-scanning feature resulted in numerous monstrosities for created players. The publisher had fun with the issue, offering fans Halloween masks based on the face-scan glitch to print out and wear. [Image: 2K Sports]

  • NBA 2K15 face scan nightmares are now Halloween masks

In the market for a last-minute Halloween mask that's both cheap and terrifying? 2K Sports has released a series of print-out masks inspired by NBA 2K15's infamous face-scanning feature -- an ideal finishing touch for that Texas Chainsaw Massacre costume you've been working on. Ostensibly designed to allow players to map their own faces onto NBA 2K15 players, the face scan feature instead generated sheer horror in the wake of the game's launch earlier this month. The mechanic left many custom-created players with misshapen facial features, multiple sets of eyes, and other uncanny disfigurements. Instead of locking its unholy creations in the basement, 2K wisely decided to repurpose its barely-human menagerie for Halloween fun. It all makes sense now. See, that character you generated with a tongue sticking out of his neck wasn't a glitch -- he just showed up to the costume party a few weeks early! [Image: 2K]

  • Upcoming NBA 2K15 patch to address MyPark, other issues

2K Sports submitted an update to Sony and Microsoft for certification to patch issues with NBA 2K15 in the "coming days." The publisher's support team noted on Twitter that the patch will address a number of issues, including the game's MyPark mode. Since the game launched last week, players have been regularly booted from the online mode. NBA 2K15 is the latest in the publisher's annual pro basketball series, and was generally met with critical approval last week. The game also received a card-battling companion app this week on iOS and Android. While the details of NBA 2K15's patch are not yet known, here's hoping it alleviates the nightmarish results of its face-scanning feature. The game is available for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. [Image: 2K Sports]

  • NBA 2K card-battling app now available

We're all adults here and recognize that fantasy football/baseball is just Dungeons and Dragons for jocks, right? Ok, well, here we go with My NBA 2K15 for mobile devices, which is essentially Magic: The Gathering of Hearthstone for the polyester and nylon uniform set. As PocketGamer notes, the card battler appears to be a replacement for a more traditional mobile basketball game. It features in-app credit purchases and over 1000 cards featuring players who compete through a season of numbers crunching, with the ability to make purchases that transfer to NBA 2K15. The companion app is available for both iOS and Google Play devices.

  • Alien: Isolation debuts 2nd in UK charts, doesn't scare off FIFA 15

Again and again, the UK charts prove that when all is said and done, FIFA FIFA and FIFA some more. This time around it was Alien: Isolation that failed to prevent FIFA 15 from notching a third week on top of the country's retail sales charts. Still, Creative Assembly's zeal for xenomorphs was enough to take its newly hatched space horror into second place. Regular charters will remember FIFA 15 held off three major new releases last week in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Forza Horizon 2 and Super Smash Bros. 3DS. This week, EA's sportsball sim denied four new challengers. In addition to Alien: Isolation, PS4 racer Driveclub had to settle for fifth, as it didn't manage to overtake Forza in fourth. Like Mordor which placed third, the Xbox game dropped just a place in its second week. Meanwhile, basket case NBA 2K15 debuted seventh. As for the fourth challenger, PS4, Xbox One and PC remaster Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition fell short of the top ten in 12th place. As for what kept it out, once again if you regularly keep up with our UK charts posts, you won't be at all surprised to see the two entries sat in ninth and tenth place - as ever, check out the full top ten and customary music video below the break.

  • Joystiq Weekly: Vib-ribbon launches, Driveclub Review, RE: Revelations 2 preview and more

Welcome to Joystiq Weekly, a "too long; didn't read" of each week's biggest stories, reviews and original content. Each category's top story is introduced with a reactionary gif, because moving pictures aren't just for The Daily Prophet. "Better eight years late than never," PlayStation Network users probably said during this week's return of Vib-ribbon. Sure, we're not exactly in drought season, but what's stopping you from impulsively bailing on 2014's release calendar to revisit a 1999 cult classic? Beyond money and life's responsibilities, anyway. If Vib-ribbon is fair game for a 2014 appearance, can we go ahead and get our hopes for comparably-unlikely surprises? Sure, StarCraft: Ghost's indefinitely-on-hold status is probably irreversible at this point, but if Blizzard felt like continuing development in secret for years and launching it without warning, we wouldn't be upset. Valve, you're more than welcome to do the same with fresh installments in the Half Life or Left 4 Dead series. There was more to this week than feeble wishes though, including resolution news for Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Assassin's Creed: Unity, reviews for Driveclub and Neverending Nightmares, and previews for AC: Unity and Resident Evil: Revelations 2. All those and more are tidied up for you after the break!

  • Metareview: NBA 2K15

Another year, another entry in what may be the most consistent series in sports video games. NBA 2K15 follows a critically-beloved predecessor that we described as "gorgeous," before adding that "the on-court action is every bit as engaging and hospitable as it's always been, and the visuals are more impressive than ever." Can the franchise once again live up to its already lofty standards? If history is any indicator, the answer is probably a resounding "yes," but let's find out what the critics think anyway.

  • NBA 2K15's face scan feature unleashes monstrous b-baller horde

When does a dream become a nightmare? It's the precise moment when you try to import your own face into NBA 2K15, apparently. User experimentation with NBA 2K15's new face scan feature has yielded terrifying results, and many models generated by players on the game's first day of release are barely recognizable as human. This Imgur gallery shows what can happen when a promising feature goes horribly wrong. The worst results feature multiple sets of eyes, misplaced mouths, and melted facial features. It's the sort of extreme disfigurement you'd normally associate with the Umbrella Corporation or a Troma film -- only a glitch could prove so devastating to defining traits that we, as humans, take for granted. More examples of NBA 2K15's face-destroying cruelty are collected at this Tumblr page, if you don't plan on sleeping tonight. Or ever. [Image: 2K Sports / Imgur]

  • NBA 2K15 scans your face, thinks you're beautiful

NBA 2K15 will feature the ability for players to scan their faces into the game and onto the bodies of digital athletes. 2K Sports revealed the feature in a tutorial video, which instructs prospective virtual basketballers to hold the PlayStation Camera six to 12 inches away from their faces. After slowly turning their head both ways, players will find their mapped mugs in the game, at which point they can fine-tune their features. Created players can then be used in MyCareer mode, where they will likely get dunked on by cover star Kevin Durant. While the tutorial mentioned the PlayStation Camera by name, 2K says the feature uses "first-party camera hardware." The publisher also doesn't specify whether the feature is locked to a given console, indicating that Xbox One players can use the Kinect to scan their faces as well. NBA 2K15 will launch October 7 for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. [Image: 2K]

  • NBA 2K15 wonders "What if?" in MyTeam trailer

2K Sports recently offered a new trailer and details for NBA 2K15's MyTeam mode. Similar to EA Sports' various Ultimate Team modes, MyTeam has players building a squad of basketballers from across the sport's history, improving their team gradually over time. One of the ways they'll be able to build their team this year is through a real-time auction house, seen in a few of the game's screens provided by 2K. Players will also have a challenge mode to put their team through its paces in several "What if?" fantasy scenarios. 2K Sports plans to add both multiplayer and weekly challenges to MyTeam throughout the year as well as user-created content. NBA 2K15 will launch October 7 for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. [Image: 2K Sports]

  • NBA 2K15's 'Yakkem' trailer is red hot

2K Sports' latest trailer for NBA 2K15 includes voiceover work by the basketball sim's pre-game commentary team Ernie Johnson and Shaquille O'Neal, the latter coining the phrase "Yakkem." Set to "Suck my Kiss" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the video shows the player models of a number of athletes, including LeBron James in his Cavaliers uniform. The publisher issued a second video late last week in which NBA players Steph Curry, James Harden, Anthony Davis and NBA 2K15 cover athlete Kevin Durant discuss the NBA 2K series. NBA 2K15 will launch October 7 for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. 2K Sports added 11 new Euroleague teams to this year's game, which features a soundtrack hand-picked by Pharrell Williams. • Pharrell probably 'happy' he's picking NBA 2K15 soundtrack

2K Games has preemptively boosted the pop cultural cred of NBA 2K15 by hiring musician, producer and creator of this omnipresent earworm Pharrell Williams to oversee the basketball sim's music selection. "I tried to curate songs that were diverse but yet still proved to be motivational to gamers," said Williams in a 2K press release. "It was important to me that the music complemented the on-court action of NBA basketball in NBA 2K15." "Pharrell's passion and reputation as a visionary producer and expertise from working with the NBA will be evident in the largest and most eclectic NBA 2K soundtrack ever," said NBA 2K vice president of marketing Alfie Brody. "We really listened to our fans' feedback on how we could improve their experience from a music standpoint, and we're confident Pharrell's collaboration in NBA 2K15 will impress players as much as it's impressed us." Unfortunately lacking from the announcement is any word on what songs Williams chose, though if it mirrors his extensive music industry resumé, we should see a wide selection of pop, hip hop, techno and even the blurry catch-all known as alternative rock. 2K claims the soundtrack will be unveiled "later this summer." • NBA 2K15 expands Euroleague lineup with 11 more teams

NBA 2K15 will feature a total of 25 Euroleague teams thanks to the addition of 11 more this year, 2K Sports announced today. The highest level of professional basketball in Europe will be better represented in the basketball sim thanks to the inclusion of teams like Germany's FC Bayern Munich, France's JSF Nanterre and Serbia's Partizan NIS Belgrade. The full list of Euroleague teams in the game can be found after the break. NBA 2K15 will be the first simultaneous release in the series for current and next-gen systems, as it is due out October 7 in North America (October 10 internationally) for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3. Xbox 360 and PC. 2K Sports' last entry was also the first on PS4 and Xbox One, and it coped with significant online server issues that locked players out of game content. Oklahoma City Thunder small forward and the NBA's Most Valuable Player Kevin Durant will be featured as NBA 2K15's cover athlete.

  • NBA 2K15 nets MVP cover athlete Kevin Durant

2K Sports announced its cover athlete for NBA 2K15 today, and it's none other than Oklahoma City Thunder small forward Kevin Durant. Durant was recently crowned the NBA's most valuable player, so there really is no better basketball player to have on the game's cover. NBA 2K15 will launch October 7 in North America and October 10 internationally. The basketball sim is in development by Visual Concepts for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. The last entry in the series, NBA 2K14, was the first to arrive on Xbox One and PS4 at each console's launch following its current-gen and PC release in early October 2013. The game suffered major server issues, which locked players out of MyTeam and NBA Today content entirely, even after the next-gen versions received a sizable patch. As of February, Take-Two had shipped more than five million copies of the game. [Image: 2K Sports]
