'Marvel's Avengers' game is delayed until September 4th

Final Fantasy VII Remake isn't the only Square Enix game facing delays. Crystal Dynamics has pushed the release of Marvel's Avengers from May 15th to September 4th. The extra months will allow more time for "fine tuning and polishing the game so that it's actually fun to play," studio heads Scot Amos and Ron Rosenberg said in a notice both on Crystal Dynamics' site (which, ominously, went down as we wrote this) and on Twitter. If you have worries about the game, you might get to rest a little easier.

Marvel's Avengers won't arrive for another six months, but Crystal Dynamics has already offered some details on its features, including customizable abilities through skill trees, solo and co-op missions, unlockable gear and outfits. The developer has provided a look at how some of that works in practice with a gameplay trailer for the action-adventure RPG.

Kamala Khan will be a main character in the 'Marvel's Avengers' game

After a few years of waiting, the Marvel's Avengers game from Crystal Dynamics is almost ready for release. During a panel at New York Comic-Con, the company revealed one more bit of information, announcing that Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, will be included as a playable character. That's in addition to previously announced heroes Black Widow, Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor and Captain America. She was in previous trailers, but only appearing as a child during the "A-Day" disaster that kicks off the game's plot. In this version of the story, it also gives her powers, as she was exposed to Terragen mist during the incident.

Test Shuri's prototype suits in Marvel's latest 'Avengers' VR game

Not a lot of people will buy themselves a VR headset or seek out VR arcades. Well, not as many as those who will go out to watch a Marvel movie, anyway. Marvel Studios and ILMxLAB, the company behind VR studio The Void, have teamed up to launch a new Avengers experience that might appeal to the franchise's millions of fans. The game is called Avengers: Damage Control, and it'll see you fighting alongside heroes like Ant-Man, The Wasp, and Dr. Strange under the instructions of Black Panther's sister Shuri.

In case you missed Lenovo's IFA 2019 press event, or you want to watch the highlights again, we've condensed the whole thing down to just under 10 minutes. Lenovo's Yoga laptops will now have Intel's 10th-generation CPUs, and the Yoga C940 got a few additional AI-based updates. Lenovo revealed its Smart Display 7, its latest take on the Nest Hub. That seven-inch display comes with a built-in camera, which could be handy if you like to make video calls. And the company announced an Avengers game, called Dimension of Heroes, for its Mirage AR headset. Playing Marvel's Avengers, a living RPG with microtransactions

When Engadget's UK Bureau Chief Mat Smith attended the first-ever gameplay demonstration of Marvel's Avengers at E3, he walked away worried. The level he saw was essentially a tutorial, introducing the basic mechanics of each Avenger. It was unclear how all of the characters -- Black Widow, Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor and Captain America -- would play together, and they each seemed to be overpowered in comparison to the minions that flooded their way on the Golden Gate Bridge. He said the game looked hollow, but he couldn't pinpoint exactly why.

I’m worried about this ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ game

When Square Enix finally unveiled its big Avengers project, the reception was mixed, to put it politely. While Marvel's Avengers looked appropriately triple-A, all the familiar Avenger heroes looked a little too unfamiliar. The developers have gone for relatively realistic character designs. Unfortunately for them, we've seen truly "realistic" Avengers already, courtesy of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This means that the in-game Avengers lineup looks more like a group of cosplayers acting out their fantasies. It also wasn't entirely clear from the initial trailer exactly what kind of game Marvel's Avengers will be. Behind closed doors at E3, however, the team walked me through a gameplay demo that demonstrated what Marvel's Avengers is. If you're expecting cinematic set pieces, superhero quips, fluid combat and plenty of goons to punch and blast, you'll get all of that. But why am I still so worried about this game?

Square Enix will finally show its 'Avengers' game on June 10th

It's been a long two and a half years since Square Enix and Marvel teased plans for an Avengers game, but they're nearly ready to show the fruits of their labor. They now plan to unveil Marvel's Avengers at Square Enix's E3 event, which starts June 10th at 9PM Eastern. There's little else to show right now, but this confirmed that Crystal Dynamics (of Tomb Raider fame) and Eidos Montreal (modern Deus Ex games) are still attached to the superhero title.
