Razer Tomahawk first look at CES 2020

Video Transcript

RICHARD LAI: Razer is best known for packing a lot of gaming power into laptops, but unless you're willing to plug in an external GPU, there aren't many options when it comes to upgrades. On the other side of the scale though, you may not have the space to put a full-sized PC tower on your desk. So why don't we take a midweight point and take a look at the new Razer Tomahawk desktop gaming PC?

What we have here is the Razer Tomahawk, which is a cute little package that comes in a 10-liter chassis, and it's powered by the brand new Intel NUC 9 extreme element card, which is essentially a PC on a PCI Express card. The NUC itself comes with dual USB-C slots, dual ethernet, and four USB-A slots. Up to 64 gigs of RAM, dual MDOT 2 slots. And these are all upgradeable. All you have to do is just remove four screws and remove the cover and you're good to go. You can put in whatever RAM and SSD you want.

Most importantly though, the Tomahawk can house a full-sized graphics card, and in this case, you can get an option of up to the RTX 2080. As for the chassis itself, it comes with a transparent window plus two cooling fans at the top. And you can put in a power supply of up to 750 watts.

We saw a quick demonstration of the assembly, and it was very straightforward. You simply have to just plug in the GPU, the NUC, stick in the cables, and you slide the whole assembly into the case, and you're good to go.

Now there's no word on pricing just yet, but you can expect several options when it comes out in the first half of 2020 this year. For more from CES, stay tuned on Engadget.com.
