Samsung 12.1-inch NC20 with VIA Nano power ready for Stateside purchase
A friendly tipster has pointed us over to NewEgg where Samsung's much loved NC20 is ready for purchase and presumably delivery. Mind you, this isn't just another Atom-based netbook. This 12.1-incher is one of the first to ship Stateside with a Via Nano processor of any type, the 1.3GHz U2250 in this case. You're also looking at Via Chrome9 integrated graphics, 160GB 5400rpm disk, 1GB of DDR2 memory, and 6-cell Li-ion battery. $550 is the pre-tax price for clicking all the way through to purchase where we suspect you'll be treated to a ship date. One thing's for certain; it'll be later than March 6th.[Thanks, angelwolf71885]

We've already seen Samsung's borderline netbook unboxed and on sale across the pond, but up until now, us Yanks have had to sit and ponder whether waiting for this to come Stateside was a worthwhile use of time. For those that held off, kudos. Laptop has received word from Sammy itself that an Americanized version of the 12.1-inch, VIA-powered NC20 will ship here in the United States starting on March 6th. At least initially, the computer will be offered up exclusively through NewEgg.com, and we're told that the US version will be black in color and equipped with a 5900mAh battery. The only detail that wasn't disclosed was the price, so it seems we've a few hours yet to wait before that becomes clear. Check the read link for an unboxing of the white Korean model should you so desire.
Darren Murph03.03.2009Video: Samsung's NC20 unboxed -- with fervor!
Are you stoked about Samsung's NC20 netbook? No, we mean are you seriously frickin' jazzed? One fellow from NetbookNews.de sure is, and he's proving it on the video just past the break. We've already heard that this here machine is worth a look, but what good are good reviews if you aren't kosher with the exterior? Check out the 6.34 (give or take a bit) minute unboxing vid below.[Thanks, Brian]
Darren Murph02.14.2009Samsung NC20, 3G NC10 now available for pre-order in the UK
The Russians have already declared their love, and soon you'll be able to get your mitts on the Samsung NC20 and see for yourself what all the fuss is about. It's now available for pre-order from UK retailer BT Shop, priced at £390.98 ($565) VAT included, with a white model due out in February and a black iteration in March. Both models sport a 12.1-inch WXGA display, Windowx XP Home Edition, 1.3GHz VIA Nano U225 CPU processor, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, Bluetooth, 3-in-1 card reader, 1.3 megapixel camera, and a 6 Cell battery -- no SSD option at the moment. Additionally, the shop is also showing a new NC10 equipped with HSDPA coming next month for £416.63 ($602) with VAT, which is £107 ($154) more than its non-3G equivalent. Not to worry, US readers, we're sure Sammy will be asking for your Benjamins soon enough.[Thanks, Darpan]
Ross Miller02.05.2009Samsung NC20 sees foreign review, universal appreciation
According to a remarkably lengthy review penned in Russian, the NC20 is a real stunner. Somehow, Samsung managed to stuff six hours of battery life into a machine with a 12.1-inch display, which ought to please anyone truly looking for ideal netbook functionality. Of course, it didn't fare so well under intense gaming pressure, and even the art of multitasking with three or more applications seemed to bog it down. That said, we are talking about a netbook (and not an ultraportable), and its ability to handle HD video was rather impressive in its own right. So far as we can tell, reviewers were pretty pleased with the overall package given the relatively low anticipated price (we're hearing $500 or so for the US market), but you can draw your own conclusions by giving the read link a visit. Darren Murph01.29.2009Samsung publishes NC20 user manual, new images surface
Eager to get your digits onto an NC20 keyboard? Sadly, we can't help you there, but we can point out something to whet your appetite until shipment day dawns. Samsung's UK branch has hosted up the NC20 user manual, and while it doesn't really offer too many nuggets that we weren't already aware of, it still proves that this here netbook will arrive with the oh-so-promising 1.3GHz VIA Nano U225 CPU. Additionally, you'll find a 12.1-inch WXGA display (1,280 x 800), VIA Chrome 9 HC3 graphics, a multicard reader, Ethernet / USB 2.0 ports, optional WiFi / Bluetooth and your choice of HDD or SSD. Check out the links below for more on the hardware details and a new load of press shots, and start saving you pennies now, 'cause early estimates put this one at around $500 or so.[Via NotebookItalia]
Darren Murph01.14.2009Samsung's NC20 netbook: the predictable successor to the NC10
Samsung's NC10 netbook has barely been out long enough to get a footing in the market, and already we're learning of its natural successor. The NC20 (likely not pictured) will reportedly hit the ground running in February, and with it will come a 1.3GHz VIA Nano U225 processor, a 12.1-inch display, 160GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, Bluetooth 2.0, 802.11b/g WiFi, Ethernet, a 3-in-1 card reader and a 1.3-megapixel camera. The 3.3-pound machine is expected to launch at around $642, which -- quite honestly -- sounds a touch on the high side to us. Who knows though, maybe that sticker includes a secondary display that we're just not privy to yet.[Thanks, Faber]
