WRUP: Impressions on the Heroes of the Storm

Heroes' Frostfire Garb

It's time for another weekend, and the news is still dry as a desert. Unfortunately, we've already made up fake news. We've made up haikus. But not all is lost: we're seeing news and experiences from Heroes of the Storm.

So while it's a tiny diversion from WoW, we asked your intrepid WoW Insider staff about their feelings on HotS at this point. It's looking pretty sexy and I can't wait to play it for reals. What about you, dear reader? Are the heroes keeping you afloat while we all wait patiently for WoD?

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) This weekend will likely be spent playing nothing and instead revising an impromptu story about a million times. Also the installation of a new kitchen sink that weighs roughly 130lbs. But it's so PRETTY!

Bonus question: Honestly, I'm kind of looking forward to it. I don't really play MOBA games at all, it's not a genre I'm familiar with. But Blizzard managed to hook me with Hearthstone, which I didn't think was possible, and made that genre pretty easy to understand. So I'm wondering if Heroes will be something along those lines - and if it is, I'm pretty sure I'll add it to my list of Blizzard games to play, too.

Elizabeth Harper (@Faience) Over the past week, I've been devoting time to farming ore and leveling engineering on my newly 90 rogue. Maybe I'll find time to max out the profession this weekend, so I can shift from farming ore to level to farming ore to build things.

As to HotS, it's not the type of game I typically play, so I admittedly haven't paid it much mind. But Blizzard always makes great games and I'm curious how this one will turn out.

Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) I don't really have an opinion on Heroes - it's not my type of game, and I've got enough on my plate that I don't need to add anything else. I've been leveling my hunter through Northrend, and tamed Loque'nahak tonight after watching a shadow priest kill him while I was trying to tame him earlier today. Maybe some L.A. Noire, too - I never got too far in that game.

Kristin Marshall (@kristin) I'm headed out to Emerald City Comic Con this weekend! Time to fan girl over everything. I do still have to raid on Sunday, so there's that. I just really want to play some D3! *grumbles*

As for Heroes... it looks really fun! I've not played many games like that, but I'd like to give it a shot.

Matthew Rossi (@MatthewWRossi) Diablo III. Diab...lo Three? Diablo III.

Heroes of the Diablo III? Diablo Three of the Diablo III? Reaper of Storms?

Okay, brain rebooted. Anyway, I'll be playing more Reaper of Souls this weekend, and as for Heroes, it's really amazingly well done. Of Souls.

Michael Gray (@writegray) This weekend is sadly gameless for me. Time to work on taxes, some writing, and getting some spring cleaning done.

I'm very excited for Heroes. Though, still, iPad Hearthstone would be better.

Sarah Pine (@ilaniel) I'm hoping to have a relaxing weekend with my husband--he's been under the pump at work recently and this weekend is his first real time off in a while. I've got a good rhythm going with a few of my alts so I'll probably hop into WoW at some point, and I've also been toying with the idea of starting up a Baldur's Gate 2 replay--but I can never decide which class I want so that may fall through.

I'm getting more and more interested in HotS the more I hear about it. I'm not really into that style of game, but I know so many people who are playing it that they'll probably manage to suck me in at some point. I do love what I've heard about the characters so far--how they reference previous games when they interact and such. For example, if you kill Arthas with Muradin, Muradin says, "That's for leaving me in the cave!" which is a hilarious nod back to WC3. I love stories, so story references really get me excited.

The weekend is the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy some game time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Considering taking the leap into roleplaying? Whatever your favorite way to play World of Warcraft, let us know in the comments what you're playing this weekend!
