Belkin unveils the NetCam HD WiFi camera, WeMo SMART functionality in tow for $150
Looking to keep an eye on things at home while you're away? If so, Belkin is looking to lend a hand with an HD version of its NetCam WiFi camera. The device touts 720p video and digital audio capture for monitoring on-the-go and boasts easy setup with an Android or iOS smartphone and your home's WiFi router -- no need to fire up that PC. Need to monitor your goods at night? No problem. This model features night vision, just like its elder sibling. A companion app handles the mobile workload and email alerts can be pushed to your inbox when motion is detected -- complete with a screenshot of the culprit. Additionally, the NetCam HD will launch with the recently outed WeMo SMART platform that leverages Belkin's home automation tools for a variety of in-home gadgets and appliances. Units are slated to hit shelves this spring, hoping to pry $149.99 out of your wallet before outfitting your flat.

Belkin Announces New High Definition NetCam Wi-Fi Camera
Features 720p Resolution and WeMo SMART Capabilities; on Display at 2013 International CES
LAS VEGAS – January 8, 2013 – Belkin today announced NetCam HD, a high definition wireless networking camera that allows you to see your home in high-quality 720p resolution for a smoother, more detailed picture on your smartphone or tablet. The NetCam HD will be on display at the 2013 International CES in the Belkin booth, #30651, in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, January 8-11, 2013.
"We have upgraded our original NetCam with HD-quality video, giving you sharper video clarity for a better picture of what's going on inside your home when you are away," said Mike Chen, senior director of product management for Belkin's networking group. "Another exciting development is the addition of WeMo SMART, meaning NetCam HD can be integrated with other WeMo devices from Belkin."
WeMo SMART is a partnership program designed to bring WeMo, Belkin's simple, Wi-Fi based home control platform, to new devices, products and brands. With WeMo SMART functionality added, the NetCam HD is viewable from the WeMo app and acts as an additional motion sensor on a WeMo network to trigger another device to turn on or off when it senses motion.
The NetCam HD sets up easily using any iOS or Android device and connects directly to a Wi-Fi router without the need of a computer. The free NetCam app allows you to monitor your home remotely anytime, anywhere. The app also provides email alerts, notifying you when motion is detected and sending you a snapshot of the motion in full HD.
