SkipJam iMedia Center reviewed

SkipJam iMedia Center

It's been a long wait for the SkipJam iMedia Center, and now that it's finally out, the big question is, was it worth the wait? According to PC Magazine's reviewers, the answer may just be yes. While the magazine's review gives the iMedia Center a few dings for being overly complicated to hook up (they recommend using a professional installer — advice that we're confident you'll ignore) and suffering from the usual rough edges found in most 1.0 products, all in all, they found it to be a "an interesting alternative to an MCE PC or TiVo equipped with the Home Media Option." Of course, at $799, it costs about as much as a low-end media PC, and more than the TiVo option, but if you're looking to stream just about any kind of media (including DVDs), it could be worth a look.
